Bob and I accepted Jesus as our personal savior in 1971. Both of our lives change drastically. We fell in love with the Lord and was grateful for the mercy He has showed us. Bob stated traveling with Don Bashman and Deric Prince (two evangelists) opening up the meetings with songs the Lord gave him and I started going to the streets , telling of Gods mercy and grace in our personal lives. January 1972 we had just left Redeemer Temple Church after Wednesday night service and the children were thirsty so we stopped at a restaurant at 3rd and Broadway. We were going in the back door when I saw a young girl walking across a empty lot. I ask Bob if I could go share with her and he said yes, so I approached her and began sharing Jesus with her. Just then a man walked out of a bar across the street. Another man followed him out and raised a gun and shot him. He fell about 12 feet in front of us. Then the man went up to him with the gun shot him in the head twice. We must of screamed because the shooter looked up and pointed the gun at us. Bob yelled “I command you to run in the name of Jesus” and he took off running. Bob kneeled next to the man shot and told him to call on the name of Jesus and he would forgive his sins. The man died. The young girls name was Jan and she was 16 years old. She and I went to the police station because we were witnesses to this murder. That night Jan came home with us and we were able to lead her to the Lord and her parents flew out and took her home after four months with us. We have never been alone since. Our children were raised in the ministry the Lord called us to and as adults they all have hearts that care for the Lost and are involved in the ministry of Harvest House for Women. | ||
